Cold Calling - Is this recommended when wanting link exchanges?

Yeah, it's all part of link building. I would pull together a standard email that you want to send out and slightly adjust it to the person you are emailing.

If you mean by phone, I have never done this personally.

You run a teen forum don't you? Why not target some offline advertising? Design a poster that points people to your website and send it round to youth services around the country asking them to put it up.

My wife works as a youth worker, and I'm sure she would be happy to post one up.

Of course I meant via email, I wouldnt dare by phone, not for our niche at least :D I have been taking a look at other sites link exchanges and considering asking them for one too.

Yes me and Kerry run a teen forum. I have done a few posters and stuck them up on our site for people to download but I dont think relying on visitors to use them would be sufficient.

I will contact a few local places and might even try sourcing nationwide :shades_smile:

You would be surprised, I have heard of people using the phone to gain backlinks !!

Your poster is very... bland, sorry. It's not really something that catches my eye or I would look at twice. I think it needs a little redesign beofre you contact people. Also, I would consider putting it into a pdf, so that it is easily printable for people. Having to copy and paste it into a doc, then playing with it to make it fit... to much effort. A pdf they can just print off and put up.

I would serously consider contacting local youth services around the country. This is your target market, and could gain you laods of users.PLus you need to target any other teen based activity to gain users.

Thank you. I only made it bland because I thought people wouldnt be willing to print off a poster with loads of colours etc I will redesign it today and post in the graphics section the results. I aint that good at poster design lol Ive only ever designed flyers for bands which I admit were a lot more fancier than that one.

I will get posting a thread for the poster now as I want to know what others think it will need etc
