Web Design Trends in 2009

Posted 1st January 2009 at 10:58 AM by burry21

First post and a question:

How will the global environment develop in 2009. We see lots of Flash and CMS systems coming into play - but really where is it heading?
Will startups use us for tailored site builds or will they head towards products like Wordpress and other apps such as Artisteer?

I think this will be the year of the mobile site, and closer interaction between social, mobile and web.

I hope to see more interaction between sites themselves, like Google's opensocial en things like that.

More flash, ajax, json, and flex, (and if Microsoft sponsors it, silverlight). Rich internet applications are not the future they are last year, still more of them will come into play.

But those are all technologies, you need someone from the future to predict design trends. Will pixelfonts make a comeback?(no) Will grudge and vintage still be considered good design?

I think grunge still has a place in design, if it is aimed at the right market - once again it comes down to knowing your target audience.

Well sure, grudge isn't aged yet, but perhaps that'll change this year.

I agree with mobile sites, 3D barcodes are becoming more prominent in the uk, i recently saw one on a billboard in crewe, it's the first 3D barcode i've ever seen in this country.

This year and next, i think will see a boom in mobile internet, and mobile apps.

Being connected is becoming more pinnacle to everyday life, and the way things interact is changing to, promoting the online world

As long as it's not a separate Internet I'm fine with it. Media-stylesheets yes; things like the old wml/wap/i-mode no.
On the social web, unfriending seems to be the new fad of 2009.
