best browsers - I was wondering what browsers most of us are using and why you are using that browser, why not one

I was wondering what browsers most of us are using and why you are using that browser, why not one of the others ?

I use firefox because of the webmaster add on, and lots of other very useful tools... but which is the best for most features and quickest load time etc ?

I use Firefox because of the addons too but the downside is it clogs the memory sometimes. I still love it nevertheless.

Chrome is great for browsing because it's very light and it does not clog. I did a test by leaving it on over night and the evidence shows it all.

But I have no problems with Firefox.

IE? I've never heard of it.

My main browser is Chrome, because it's extremely fast -- especially to start up.

I often use Firefox for web development, however. It may be unfair of me to compare Firefox's speed to Chrome, as my Firefox has to load a bucket-load of web-dev add-ons. In any case, it's handy that my main browser can stay lean.

I am unsure about chrome to be honest, I downloaded it once but uninstalled it very quickly

although the speed is good, I spend so much time working with web development, its simply not worth my time to use it all the time.

Since Firefox 3.5 has come out I've had quite a few problems. Sometimes it won't let me log in and other times it jams up on me. To be honest lately I've used Chrome and IE8 because Firefox has given me some nasty issues.

True to the topic's title, and imo browsers ability to perform at the best should be judged primarily on there prime function, to display website. and due to that, any web browser using the WebKit, Gecko or presto engine will no doubt be one of the best browsers.

But down to choice, i use Safari for general surfing, and Firefox for developing due to it's add on's.

I don't really like Firefox, imo it has been slowly going down hill since just after the 3.0 launch. It takes up too much memory and it is often sluggish.. its interface is pretty ugly as well.

On my Mac I use Safari, on windows I use Chrome. If I didn't have to test websites in it, I wouldn't even have Firefox installed.

When Chrome for Mac comes out I'll be trying it for a while. Once I have a spare £40 I need to buy a program called Guest PC to allow my Mac to run XP and consequently IE.

Firefox 3.5 works wonderfully on me on my Mac. No problems at all.

My linux Firefox 3.0 is a bit sluggish at times, can't wait until 3.5 comes to the repositories... I could use the js speed boost.

I've tried out Chrome, its pretty nice, but with no addons and only a buggy dev version for Mac and Linux, it wouldn't work for me.
