Default ibp or vbulletin Which is better ?

I thought it would be interesting to see what our users think is better

The admin are debating whether to stick with vbulletin or move to ipb in light of the new forthcoming vbulletin 4.0..

please, before you vote, go to vbulletin and think as if you already owned a licence, would you be happy with what they are offering ?... but the snag is, there is no 4.0 demo..

This is not an official vote, it is just something that might help us decide.

IPB doesn't support plugins which is a problem.

However, IPBs code is much nicer to work with, but hopefully vB4.0 will offer marked improvements!

I think that's half the issue, we just don't know whether it will without a online demo

How do you mean? I run an IP.Board and there are many modifications available from places like Invisionize. IP also have their own resources website, but it's always changing so I don't know where it is anymore.

Last time I used IPB you had to manually insert all modifications into the code, which would be inconvenient when upgrading or adding even more modifications to the same code. However, that was a while ago, and things may have changed.

Yes, that used to be the case. However I believe it's simpler now with version 3. As they now use hooks. Although I've already had one modification fail on me. It worked on version 3.0.0, but not on version 3.0.4.

I thought this was normal. How does it work with vb?

On VB you just upload it, and then that's it and you get some settings added to the VB admin area. Why are they not offering a 4.0 demo?

It's not ready yet, the product has only just come out of alpha; so we may not see the product until Q1 2010...
