Thread: in need of a new url for my site!

Hi All,

i have come in search of some new domain ideas for my site,

my creative skills are severly lacking and am hoping some of you would help me with some ideas please.

abit about my site:

primarelry its a price comparison site, but offers discount codes/vouchers as well as promoting offers and releases to social networks, back in the day i came up with Kernow Connect as i didnt really know much about web deveopment and being from cornwall i thought it was a good'ish name BUT has nothing to do with discount, shopping or price comparison.

does this really matter?

here is what ive come up with in terms of a new url:

smart-shopping.com
compare.it
shop4.it
saveon.it
discount-shopper.com

but think most of them are taken

can anyone come up with any others? would really appreciate it

I have never understood what this Kernow is. Is it a place?

I like 'connect'. After all you are connecting people with cheap products. I think you can work with your existing domain name if you make it a bit clearer.

I have never been good either when it comes to domain names so unfortunately I cannot advise. I would only change the domain name if you have the budget to get a professional logo made and start marketing it. Otherwise I don't really see the point as you compromise your existing traffic to start over.

I noticed while browsing your site that you have a link to a contact page that doesn't exist. You might want to clean that up.

I imagine that you could 301 from kernow-connect to new domain and do a referrer check. If it's kernow-connect you could display a notice that the name has changed, please update your bookmarks or something. You should also be able to track referrers in your host stats - when kernow-connect drops off you could then disable that domain.

@Frinkky - thanks for the 301 link and the suggestions, the list of ideas has given me much food for thought p.s can't beleive you didn't know what kernow was either lol esp living in Devon for all that time...

As for knowing the meaning of Kernow, I have a passing interest in such minority languages, especially those linked to my own Irish (not that I'm fluent in it at all) such as Scots-Gaelic, Cornish, Welsh, Manx and Breton. Shame they're dying out.

I wonder how many people also know there's a Cornish flag!
