Default New UK copyright laws

I am hoping that many of you living in the UK can enlighten me a little more about this new music issue on the internet.

I have just been informed via the Elvis grapevine in the UK that there is some kind of new law where somehow you all are not able to view certain music playlist on the internet.... playlist.com being one of them. Something to do with copyrights, I think?

So I have had people coming to my Elvis site where I have a 'autostart' playlist and it causes their computers to freeze up, they say. They say that they cannot view sites with these certain playlists unless the 'autostart' is turned off and then they still cannot play the player at all.

This fan club that I am with in the UK had to change out all of their playlists because of this. They let me copy one of their playlist and it seems better than playlist.com anyway.

What is going on? And how do we work around that?

Furthermore, is there such a thing as a playlist that loads better than playlist.com?

We do, but we don't employ them (yet).

This is more to do with the suppliers of the widgets / tools stopping anyone outside of the area using the tools to ensure no copyright infringement or misuse of licensing.

The issue you have described above is due to the copyright of music in differing countries, and how the contracts were set up. So it's not the UK blocking, it the US companies sniffing out the IP and not letting us in.

I think there is a online TV company that doesn't allow you to watch shows outside of america? Of course the one you probably know about is pandora (online radio/music suggestion):

We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.
