Orchre Design Web Design and Development
24 Jul 2009 @ 19.47 Hi, This isn't my website yet but I've been busy designing my template. Heres the template if anyone has any comments then please by all means comment.
Remember this isn't used as yet but will be soon enough. I may make some alterations in time but it a design I finally didn't delete once I was half way through.
Please be gentle I'm a newbie remember...Lol  If I have posted this in the wrong forums then please move it to the relevant forums. Thank you!!

25 Jul 2009 @ 00.50 It is really stuffed, I 'd prefer it more minimal.
(More words tomorrow, after I have gotten some sleep :P)

25 Jul 2009 @ 10.37 I was thinking of removing the log in section and moving it to the hosting page. That way potential clients won't be put off thinking they have to register before they can have any work done. Yes I think today I will remove that log in section and then it won't look so cluttered.
Thanks for your reply.
:EDIT: I have removed the Log In section of the template and will keep that for the hosting page. That way I will have a layout for the hosting levels. i.e. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Thats just basic I'm not sure how I will display them yet. :END EDIT:
If anyone has any ideas what i can do with this template feel free to comment. This is my first template for a website. So, it's trial and error I suppose. Also i noticed that the image is blurry but that's just because its a linked image so has reduced the quality slightly. It looks far better on my screen.Last edited by Wrams; 25 Jul 2009 at @ 11.56.

25 Jul 2009 @ 12.24 I'd remove the whole area above your header as you can easily put that info elsewhere.
I'd also remove the white area between your header and the orange menu, it's not providing anything really useful.
Last but not least I'd rearrange the links: The menu should have links strictly about Orechre Design and the footer can have more personal info (such as twitter).
Just my opinion though, have in mind I am only talking from the visitor side and not as a developer.

25 Jul 2009 @ 17.03 A couple of things.
I think the twitter link is far to prominent at the top. You goal is to get web design leads and new clients, not boost your twitter count. The twitter icon takes to much focus away from the top navigation.
The black border around the input boxes looks wrong, try light blue, it will go far better I think.
Why do users need to register on your site?
I would drop the text above the main navigation. All it is doing is cluttering up the design at the moment.

25 Jul 2009 @ 17.59 A few text based points:
1. Is it Orechre or Orchre, best to stick to one spelling of the name
what does it mean, or is it just a random word?
2. I'd use "Web Design, Development and Hosting Service"
3. and similarly "Why not become one of our happy customers"

25 Jul 2009 @ 18.59 Thanks guys for your input, however i have made alot of changes to the template. When i've finished i will upload the new version 2 ok. I have taken on board what you have all said and the twitter bird is gone. The white area above the menu i wanted to keep but will try and remove it to see what its like. Frinkky i did change it in this one to Web Design, Development and Hosting. Also some other minor tweaks i have done. I'm currently doing the links for the footer and menu. Once i have done that i will readjust the psd file to match what i am doing and re-upload it.
Thank you once again for all your important reviews and help.
P.S. Orchre is the name and Orchre is a orangy, yellowish type of color/pattern and it was random but i liked the name so kept it.

25 Jul 2009 @ 19.25 Heres is the latest version which i quickly done in PS CS4. Does this look better ? Also the footer in the version i'm coding is not so deep. Its more like 60px high...

25 Jul 2009 @ 19.36 You mean Ochre?
-
25 Jul 2009 @ 19.45 Orchre. I googled it and it came up with a wilkapedia term for Orchre being a yellowish orangy type of colour/pattern. If its how you spelt it then damn....Lol i bought .co.uk and .com in that domain....pmsl....Thanks Frinkky for putting it right but now i have 2 domains that are completely wrong...:scared:
Oh well you live and learn....PMSL
I've also just noticed that my header is spelt wrong. See look at all the trouble you've caused me now....LolLast edited by Wrams; 25 Jul 2009 at @ 19.49.
