Default Portfolio website redesign feedback 7 Jul 2012 @ 09.07

So i've decided to completely redesign my website. It's not finished yet, so SEO/content and the Twitter feed need sorting out so please ignore that.

I haven't tested it on any large screens or on Windows so if anyone could let me know if it appears correctly that would be great. Constructive feedback would be appreciated

In comparison, this is my current design:

    Edit:

Also not sure whether to redirect iPad users to my mobile site or to allow them to view the full site..

I get a 404 on your new design.

Quick feedback: the logo/header is massive. For many users, it will completely fill the screen, and they may not realise there is more content below.

I'm all in favour of whitespace, but I think this is excessive. It looks like you got carried away with this wonderful product.

First off, I was not sure if there was a JS error as the page flicked before my eyes when clicking 'About'. I Think this navigation works well when there is a little way to scroll, but could be a bit confusing - once I realised there is only one page I would probable opt for scroling.

I don't think it is good to list negatives:

"I do not yet have the years of experience that other web designers have under their belts. Acknowledging this,"

Accesability - your page is over 2000k, are your portfolio images saved for web? You could perhaps lesson the file size by cropping the browser window out of them? I was told that the information on a website should still be accesible when images are disabled, I think you have a little problem there.

I find it anoying that I can only view the left side of your featured website folio.

I almost missed the navigation, it was so small and hidden up in the top left. I would look to make this more of the feature it is.

overall, I like its feel, it just needs some further interaction.

Looking good, any chance of a timed roll out as the jump back is quite jarring ;o)
