Could work. Baically, start off preparing your button images. Rollover one on the example you posted, thats the image, at its widest and how you prepare all your buttons. Then its a case of stringing it all together with a javascript accordion effect - but thats later :). I'd suggest doing a mock up of your page in photoshop first with some button designs and let us know how you get on.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Expertise: (X)HTML / CSS Experience: Professional | Yeah, the internet police ![]() I had a look last night, and to be honest, although it looks nice, I just wouldn't use it. It looks - meh - boring. Sorry. I think it is the corporate look that you are going towards that is putting me off. Also red and orange as a colour scheme just don't seem to work together. Search bar: Make it bigger and better - it's the main feature of the site, yet it seems to be stuck up in the top right, a common "ignore" area for most people. Make it larger, and draw attention to it. Something like “Compare over 3 million products now <search box> [search] “ One cool feature I saw on LetsBuyIt.com - The "Shopping Power" comparison shopping website to compare, share, and buy | LetsBuyIt.com was that the search bar always stayed at the top, with the content scrolling underneath. Nice usability. Welcome text Both the welcome text and what is kernow are just distractions that send me to sleep as a user. I simply don’t care; I just want to compare products. If you want this text then stick it toward the bottom of the page, or better yet, have an about us page. Remove the stock photo. Bestseller section I would update the text under the main heading to be links deeper into the site. Also maybe add the cheapest price under the images so that people know what to expect – from £22 View product details Wait a minute, this took me off your website and over to someone else. Is this intentional? Compare I clicked on a number of products on your homepage, but it only ever bought back Amazon results. Is this intentional? Right hand panel Maybe update this to use tabs, rather than one large panel. Sorry for a bit of a downer – it is certainly more clever than anything I could do. However I think the execution just needs a little polishing. oh, just checked the navigation idea - I don't think that would work - peopl ewill use sites like yours because they are simple, direct and easy to use. adding things like that will just confuse people.

Hi WelshStew, thanks for your feedback... a lot of food for thought, which is good :) The Bestseller section good idea about linking the text underneath to parts of the site :) could posible add the best price for the images but would need a lot of work(maybe something for the future?) View product details yeah at the moment it is supposed to link to another page Compare yeah the price comparison isnt setup properly for the homepage items yet need to sort that out. Right hand panel defo needs updating/styling just unsure of how? and the navigation i agree with after thinking about it will play around see what i can come up with for that again thanks for your reply Luke |

thanks mundakudi, appreciate the kind comments :) i have been and am still working hard to improve the site and i have managed to figure out how to show the percentage the user can save n each item which is great, but it means changing a lot of code, but it'll be worth it. so at the moment the site does not have a lot of content but its improving day by day :D |

Hi All a quick update to how its all going :) i have spent a while re coding my site, and have managed to make the following "improvments" i have removed the big navigation buttons and replaced them with a solid navigation area with "currently poor" on hover styling. is it now "too in your face" do i need to tone the colours down a bit? i have moved the product search to the left hand panel and moved the store search to the right side, would still like to make the product search bigger. i have worked out the percentage saved on each item, and will make the percentage a bigger font size and a different colour. i have added trailers and previews to some dvds, videos, and cds. hopefully all products will soon have trailers/previews and ive set up a twitter page which will soon start tweeting some top offers from the stores i promote :) still needs a bit of tweaking but its getting there.... here is the page any feedback welcomed :) cheers |
