    I started off using EditPlus. Colour-coded mark-up, simplistic to read

    Still use it. Oh, it has a list of codes you can use (located on the left. This can be resized to whole page focuses on the webpage).

    EditPlus - text editor and HTML editor for Windows

    It's THE easiet HTML editor i've used. The main mark-up is already there, with some meta tags, it is displayed like this when you open a HTML page up:

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE> New Document </TITLE>
    <META NAME="Generator" CONTENT="EditPlus">
    <META NAME="Author" CONTENT="">
    <META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="">
    <META NAME="Description" CONTENT="">
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    You can also open the following types of documents:

    Default, Text, HTML, C/C++, Perl, PHP, Java, JSP, JavaScript, VBScript, CSS, XML, C# & .NET config.

    Some tags are at the top of the program, such as anchor tags, B, I & U, IMG tags, etc...

    I personally reccommend this program to any beginner of web design. It's free to download, plus you can update the cliptext (cliptext contains pre-set mark-up, CSS & JavaScript, as well as ANSII).

    Sorry, i'll explain it better this time:

    The cliptext (meaning you can add pre-written code onto the page) comes with HTML 3.2 and 4.0, CSS2 & CSS3. On the Editplus website, there's a page where you can download more of those cliptext options.

    The image below will show you what I mean by cliptext.
