Learnt the Basics...Whats Next!!
27 May 2009 @ 12.13 Well like the heading says. I've learnt the basics to building my own website. But, where do i start? Whats next? How do i build a website thats working and can be viewed? I'm lost as to what i need to do now...?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Basic coding done. CSS done. What comes next? I want to build a website so i can test it and see what its like...Do i need photoshop to do this?
Or not!!
Thanks anyone who can shed some light on this for me...

27 May 2009 @ 12.57 first you need content. A plan
Whats your site going to deliver and to what audience
once you understand this then you need a design. This can come from the imagination or you can use a pre designed template or you can look at other sites and get inspiration from them
here is a good resource... here
check out the inspiration section for ideas (don't copy)
then I would carve up a concept in Photoshop. A guide to work off.
once you have this then you just get jiggy with CSSLast edited by davidj; 27 May 2009 at @ 14.06. Reason: replaced correct link Doh!!

27 May 2009 @ 13.08 Why would you say that? I have learnt the basics from online tutorials but i'm just asking what others do or did when they first started out. The thing is the best way to learn is to try and build a site myself then i'll understand more about it. ie: mistakes, errors, bugs and all the lovely stuff that comes with building websites. I am ready or feel readu to start making my own site but i'm just asking for some advice that will help me. We all started somewhere once and we all had to build our first website. I can do that but im just asking if Photoshop is what i have to use or can i build a 800x600 website without using Photoshop. I'm not sure if i can actually make a site with photoshop but as for the basics then i feel ready.
What would you suggest?

27 May 2009 @ 13.35 Actually .. I would suggest you to continue your work with CSS. Learn more about it and how much it can actually do. Start working with DIV's and CLASSes.
