Default W3eb Hosting Suggestions.

I am a beginner and wish to set up a blog site of my own. However, I do not know where to host the same.

Also, I've not been able to figure out which registrar to use and will it hit my pocket hard every month?

Kindly suggest.

I would go with eukhost.com myself if you want to be able to expand in the future, I would say Hostgator however much I hate them since is just for a blog, will the blog be a wordpress blog as you shouldnt need anything really expensive to begin with :)

For registering domain names I would go with namecheap.com

And welcome to the cafe Marv :D

I have used ICDsoft in the past. You won't get the enormously high bandwidth and storage of other hosting companies, but you won't need that much anyways. ICDsoft's support is top-notch, I usually get replies within 5 minutes, and the support team knows their stuff. (They even know PHP!)

welcome to wpc

I can only recommend Web Hosting - PHP5 - UK Servers uk web hosting and dedicated servers, not only are they wpc's sponsors ( check out our header ) but I also have 2 other personal sites hosted with them.. they do not supply the cheapest hosting, but it is still very reasonably priced.. The service is excellent and the speed is perfect, you will get help with anything you would need, pop by to wpc and we help with coding issues and pop by to wesh for server issues.. you would be totally covered.

If you are just starting out and don't want any of the hasle of finding a host just yet, you can get a free blog at wordpress.com or blogger.com

You will then be able to get used to writing for the web and your audience, as well as learning how to manage your online presence. Then when you are ready for the next step, you can learn all about hosting and developing on your own host.

I agree with that, there is no point spending a penny if you just want a really small amount of diskspace and no databases when you can host a small static site for free. Does blogger.com etc allow databases? Are you able to take them away with you if you are allowed?

blogger.com isn't a hosting site. It gives you a free blog, but thats it. You can't do anything else except blog. So no databases, or anything like that.

I use site5, its $6 a month, has pretty much unlimited specs for small websites. They sell domains cheaply and support is fantastic, have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for any problems/questions to be resolved/answered.

Site5 - Web Hosting for Webmasters
