Default Email Autoresponders

I am putting together a new website that I am intending to run a 30 day free course with.

I want to use an email autoresponder to do this so that emails are automatically sent to people after they sign up.

Does anyone know a good open source autoresponder service.

It doesn't really matter to me if it is an onsite or offsite service.

Thanks in Advance

I don't think you want a auto responder, but rather some sort of email newsletter software where you can manage subscriptions.

Yeh you are probably right Welsh. Haven't really been down this road before with a website. Just seems to be a good fit with the site I am developing at the moment.

Any suggestions?

You can just use the PHP mail() function for some simple email sending.

I've heard some good things about php list: phplist.com : Homepage : home

However, I have only used this myself in a limited capacity.

You will also have to check with your host about email flood limits (I didn't - quite embarrassed)
