I think WPC would do well having a market place, where members could advertise their services, sales of sites and such. I know I would use it when trying to sell advertisements. It would bring in some good traffic to WPC and I think it would make WPC more than a web design forum it would also attract webmasters and such too.

Just putting that out there.

Thanks Michael, we will look at it as part of the whole site upgrade.

The issue with those sorts of things is the amount of spam it attracts, but if we can think of a way to nail that down then we will see if we can push it forward.

not exactly true mate, although it might do wonders for our membership count, its the ones that post once or even just a few times just to advertise that we have to watch, it can lead to poor quality due to people trying to hide their spam, making the moderators jobs allot harder than it needs to be, I dont know about anyone else here but I am seriously proud to have a forum where the moderators find it difficult to find something to mod lol

It does not show a good forum if that's where the stats are coming from... our member count for example 99% are those that generally wanted to become a part of the community, I would consider it false if we had huge numbers but the most active forum was an advertisement forum.

Could make it a perk to long standing quality members. Only staff can post in it, but visible to all. Ads must be accompanied by verifiable references and a couple of links to latest live work perhaps?

That way we could drop the rel="nofollow" in that section and sleep soundly at night knowing we aren't recommending cowboys :)

we cant just drop the no-follow in a single forum mate, but the rest sounds ok and with a bit of planning might work
