Default Caffeine induced search - Google upgrade

Google is working on it's next search engine upgrade: Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Help test some next-generation infrastructure

It's still in the testing phase, but from the look of it it will be a lot faster, bring back more relevant search results, as well as real time results and integrating news

You can read more about it over on Matt Cutts blog: More info on the Caffeine Update

So, what are your thoughts? A knee jerk reaction to twitter search and bing? or part of the long term Google strategy?

Sounds like there finally going to create something special. If it's going to be faster and search for more relevent websites then thats a good thing. Whats the Caffeine sandbox about? What does it do?

Looking forward to testing it out eventually.

It's an early working version of the search engine, so you can go and test it out now.

You can check it out here: http://www2.sandbox.google.com/

(seems to be down for a code update at the moment)

I wouldn't say it's a reaction to twitter or bing, but more to FriendFeed which Facebook bought but many did expect Google to make the purchase.

It will be intresting to see how this developes.

unfortunatly their test is down for maintenance and i can't test :(
